Affairs During Good Marriage: How many of you were utterly caught off guard? When one cheats during a bad marriage, it is terrible, but it is not as bad as the shock of believing your marriage was wonderful. Were you shocked? If so, how long until you 'accepted' that it really happened?

I think they are devastating either way, being cheated on isn't fun for anyone, but I think the thought of getting over it implies that at some point you aren't hurt anymore, but no matter how much you deal with this, it will always hurt. Aim rather for moving past it, this means to start at a new point and walk past this hurt.

Yes, this is me. Totally and completely caught off guard. He was telling me how lucky he was all the time in love with another woman in a long term sexual and romantic affair. It is still shocking to me!
