after starting metformin I began having seizures. Stopped taking metformin shortly thereafter. That was over 15 yrs ago. Still having seizures. Found on epilepsy site that metformin, although rare, can cause epilepsy in some people. And yet doctors have no knowledge of this. Try telling a doctor your diabetes med gave you epilepsy.
Wow, how long were you taking it for? And there is no listing of this as a side effect?
was on it for awhile at a lower dose without any problems but it wasn't helping my diabetes. Then was upped to highest dose allowed. Then my life was changed forever. You see, it damaged a part of the brain regulating body's reaction to tempatures. When the temperatures get into the high 70's or more my body thinks it's over 110! And then I have a seizure. Gabapentin has helped alot. I have only one or two seizures a year now. But I still have to be very aware of tempatures inside as well as outside.
Interesting how our bodies work. We take for granted what we have until something goes wrong.
