I'm 31 years old;I have been trying to quit drinking, I just don't understand why this is so hard to do,every morning I wake I thank the lord for waking me and i pray for strength to help me kick this bad habit, I get tired of drinking, but I still stop and pick up a beer or wine I do go easy on work weeks, but the weekends are very hard for me and I have very high tolerance, I am off and I have nothing to do,I try to get out but I don't really have very many friends and the few that I do Have are either drinking or have boyfriends and don't hang much. I try to stay out of the house as long as possible, but I don't have anywhere to go, plus I have osteoarthritis and walking can be painfull sometimes.
Hi CASH, Welcome to SupportGroups.com . It can be hard giving up the alcohol but it can be done. Have you ever go to any AA http://www.aa.org/ meetings? If not, I suggest checking those out. You don't have to say anything when you go to one. You can just listen. Make sure to listen for the likenesses not the differences. Just for today - don't drink. Take it one day at a time. Keep us posted on how you are doing. We are here for you. ((((hugs))))
Hello Cash. Bluidkiti has great advice. AA is full of wonderful people who know your battle. And they are willing to help. Give it a try...it will get you out of the house and put you with like minded people. You have nothing to lose. Good luck to you in your journey.
I am looking for meetings now there are so many locations, I am tring to find a beginners meeting in my city that starts after 6:30. I will try to retain from drinking today, I hope I can do it.
I think I’ve seen it said…“One day, one hour, one minute at a time.”
Thank you for your support I will find me a meeting to go to. Tonight I will make it to bible study, I haven't been in a while that should give me something to do, and then I will pray that once I leave bible study that I don't stop just drive straight home.
That’s good…and if ya leave ya money and cards at home you can’t buy anything can you?

Cash, I am in the same boat is you, I can relate. I'm trying to stop drinking too but not having a lot of strength doing so. Please feel free to send me a message
Strength didn’t come into the equation when I wanted to stop drinking cos I hadn’t got any at all. I weighed 96Lbs when I came to AA and could hardly walk, my feet were numb. To make up for the lack of strength I prayed and prayed ad infinitum…and still do. I am grateful today when I stub my toe or tread on something small because it hurts!!! LOL I couldn’t eat/swallow food so I bought a well known baby rusk added milk and that went down a treat, progressed to a cereal and now I eat normally.
All done through my Faith and loads of prayers, meetings and support through AA.
If you want a good life take an ‘o’ out of Good!
