Attitudes

Have you ever been treated differently by people because you have had skin cancer? I had someone almost refuse to cut my hair because of the skin cancer. It has taken a long time for me to be willing to let people see the top of my head because I get odd comments about the way the bald area where it was removed looks.

Guess some people just really dont get it & I feel that happens in alot of situations in life, people just dont want to understand/deal with/learn/listen to or whatever, kinda like losing friends due to a divorce/illness/addiction/disorders, stigma attached that needs to be taught by us & others to the next generation of "How people are Different". Humans have a long way to go no doubt.

My scar is on my face so I understand where your coming from.

Take care of you.

I wear a hat most of the time. I get comments about that to but not as bad ones as when they see the top of my head.

I actually did not try to hide the bald spot on my head when visiting my family for the first time this Christmas. I even said something to my mom about it. It was removed 5 years ago so I have been hiding it from my family for about 10 visits. It felt good to not feel like I had to have my hair back in a clip or a hat on the whole time that they saw me.

Loved hearing that, thank you & I too dont even think about the scar on my face anymore its just one of my many battle wounds :-)
