Can someone with herpes tell me what it felt like, or looked like when they first got it?
I've been freaking myself out over a recent sexual mistake, reading up on STDs and STIs and convincing myself I have any/all of them. I just went and got tested for most of them, but she said "unless there are open wounds or sores it's unlikely I have herpes".
However, there have been a few times recently when I found something weird down there, or something sticky was going on. IDK if it's just regular body mechanics or if it's something more serious. I wish I had asked her to look at it, but I was kindof embarassed.
Im a girl, when I first got it I thought I had a cut on my vagina and it burned so bad when I peed. Then I looked in the mirror and noticed a bump on the labia of my vagina, which shaving bumps don't form there. Finally went to doctor after a week, got prescribed Valtrex, and as far as I know haven't spread it nor had another outbreak since(unless it was so mild didn't know) Positive since September of 14.
I too thought I had a small tear or rip on the vagina. It was more itchy then anything at first. Then it started to burn when I peed. (I didn't think that would happen if you're a boy unless it's right by your pee hole) a day late it looked as if there was a very small cut with water coming out of it. A day late they multiplied and looked like a canker sore with the white in the middle, red ring around the white. That's when they're SUPER painful. However I've heard of cases where men thought they had a simple, deep in grown hair that was painful and uncomfortable. It was accompanied by a fever that lasted a night and a raw feeling patch on his thigh. All left within 4 days. I would demand a blood test. That's what I hate about the U.S. They won't test anybody for herpes until you have the symptoms of it and it's already too late. If asymptomatic people who have the disease got tested and found themselves positive, less innocent people would get this disease. Bummer how they just push this std under the rug :(
Kinda sounds like herpes to me.
Jimmy,
I've known I had herpes since 2001. Unfortunately, when you go on medical websites, your symptoms either have you having every disease listed, or dead. LOL
Herpes isn't normally tested for, so anyone that tells you that they've been tested for everything is misinformed themselves, or misinforming you. The herpes virus lives in the spinal cord once you're infected, and they only test sores if they present.
Some people can have one breakout, others can have it pretty regularly. Some can be carriers, and not even know they have it, which is why it's one of the most common STDs out there.
The sores kind of resemble the canker sores you get in your mouth, or fever blisters. Your first outbreak is usually the most painful. The sores will be raised. Do NOT pop them!!! Some people get slight pain at the site where a sore will be, others get really itchy there. Then the bump, which itches and then hurts happens. If you think you have it, then go get the sore tested. I will warn you, it's painful, because they have to do a scraping, but knowing is worth the pain. Trust me.
