Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Green Tea

I have been on the computer intensively now for over 15 years, as its always been a big part of my job and business. I noticed over the past year that my joints in my hands and wrists have been a bit stiff and in slight pain, so I am always looking for natural remedies, such as this one;

"Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when tendons in the wrist become inflamed, often as the result of repetitive stress from typing, playing certain instruments, or even carrying around a baby. The inflammation in the tendons causes tissues to swell, compressing nerves that run through the wrist to the fingers. The result can be irritation, numbness, tingling, pain, or even loss of some motor function in the hands. Untreated carpal tunnel can lead to permanent nerve damage.

Green tea is a type of tea, similar to black tea and oolong tea, which also come from the Camellia sinensis plant. Green tea is made using fresh leaves from the plant. People in India and China have been drinking green tea for more than 5,000 years. Next to water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world. Studies show that green tea has many health benefits: it can be used to control bleeding and heal wounds, to treat flatulence, to regulate blood sugar, to promote healthy digestion, and to improve mental clarity. Because green tea is an anti-inflammatory (like acetaminophin or aspirin), it can help to relieve the pain and swelling of carpal tunnel syndrome. However, green tea cannot cure carpal tunnel -- only alleviating the repetitive stress, by reducing the repetitive movement, or strengthening the muscles that support the hands and wrist, can do that."

i love ur informative post! that is cool.

hey have a question about carpol tunnel. I have arthritus and know that. But with carpol tunnel does it ever effect up your arms to like your shoulders do you know. When I do things were I have to rotate weights like bicep or tricep work outs and forarms are a killer, but it is getting really painful to do these things where I rotate the weight from like parallel to horizontal it does bother the hands and wrist but it seems to hurt my whole arm. I know I have issues with my hands and making them do what I want them to do. Liek I do dog grooming and struggle holding whiskers on the dogs face or holding there feet if the fight at all it is like my mind and hands dont work together. And jsut recently we had a dog with medication where instead of unscrewing the lid you had to squeeze the bottle to pop the lid open I thought great this will nto happen. But again would it affect the whole arm or just hands.

I believe I have carpul tunnel too. Been a student for six years and I am always typing. The pain shoot from my left hand into my shoulder and neck, I try to do exercises but it offer little relief. Everyone I talk to say that I may need surgery but I have other issues too to take care of. Heat and ice seem to help too. Hope this helps

Hi Everyone! Thank you for your responses to my post.

K9, it seems that one of the symptoms per the information that I read includes "strange sensations and pain traveling up the arm toward the shoulder". Here is the information that I found online; http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00005

Joey, I had severe pain in my left-hand index finger and pain throughout my hands several years ago, and I decided to seek alternative treatment, so I went to acupuncture which remedied the symptoms. A close friend of mine had surgery for his carpal tunnel 3 years ago and he still has issues with his hands. I am always into alternative therapies when and if possible. Also, I try to take frequent breaks from the computer and stretch my hands.

I will research more alternative therapies and exercises that we can do to hopefully remedy and even prevent carpal tunnel.

I just posted about Chinese Iron Balls as a therapy for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I will keep researching and post all of my findings.

thanks puppy will look that up
