Day 16
Humility/pride
Ah yes, “the pride before the fall”
Being humble will serve us well on this journey. …
“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 14;11
And
Proverbs 16:18: “pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Simply put to remain humble on this journey will serve us well. When we become prideful and boasting we could very well be setting ourselves up for a fall.
Merely because when we are full of pride we stop being vigilent.
What I have learned in this here life is that it is always wise to be prudent, to be vigilent and being humble allows me to be.
Best to remain humble, with humility comes a vigilance , a demeanor of thankfulness and honesty, that will protect us from a fall.
No reason to be proudful , it will not serve our end goal here.
For in truth, we did use cocaine, we did try to quit to no avail.
We cannot therefore afford to be prideful, nor do we need to be.
We can however have healthy self confidence and a healthy outlook about our abilities to thwart our demons. A genuine sense of pride of our accomplishments. But the false pride where we get *****, in my experience has led to a fall .
Chances are that you can look back and see that when you thought you really had it beat and became *****, that you ended up falling.
We want to be successful this time, and we apply the lessons that we have learned to date by trial and error what works for us and what doesn’t. False pride does not work for us. This quitting of cocaine, there are many times we fall off our horse, for me , each time I would learn something. There is something to be learned from each fall, and if we do that we will soon come to the point where we have nailed every obstacle to our permanent recovery.
So when we start feeling real good and we tend to get ***** about it, we can stop ourselves and redirect ourselves towards being humble.
We remain humble, no matter how well we are doing, evenso and especially so to protect our success and to further it.
1 Peter 5:8
21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
8 Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
False pride is a way that the enemy is able to sneak in and attack us, for we let our guards down, get ***** and make ourselves vulnerable
.
In truth, we remember that we cannot afford to be ***** about this situation or prideful or boasting, further we realize it is not necessary to our contentment or to our success in reaching our goals.
So let’ s not invite any more trouble than is already at hand. Instead remain humble for it is a truly a shield for us and provides us with a spiritual armour that will protect our best interests. As well as this has been a formidable opponent, we recognize that in all truth and we remain humble and in doing so we are as the scripture says "exalted" and success will be ours.
