Diagnosed with ptsd due to past relationship in 2010 and had recent trigger with in a relationship re dig w severe ptsd. Has anyone else has this diagnosis due to an abusive relationship?
Yes, PTSD isn't just for soldiers, it can affect anyone who has been through a traumatic experience! Hugs and welcome!
Yes I have been diagnosed with PTSD due to an abusive 10 year marriage. Welcome to SG. Have you had counseling or therapy? I did for a short time but then my therapist moved out of state and I have not found another that I click with yet.
Yes me too. The marriage was the nail in the coffin. Started way back in adolescents with a molestation. One event after another years apart. I panic than introvert. Breathe is my only advice

Try GABA. It is an amino acid. It’s cheap. It is one of the central nervous system’s most important inhibitory neurotransmitters, meaning it stimulates receptors that inhibit, or calm down activity in the brain. You can buy it online. I am 68 years old in good health and avoid prescription drugs like the plague.
Was in it for 4 year and was out of it tried a new relationship which had same triggers and it just set me off completely and it is actually worse than the 1st ti.w

im in a similar situation as you, recently been diagnosed with PTSD and I was struggling to comes to terms with things, one thing i find that helps me is meditation it really helps me to relax and clear my head.
B4 when I was diagnosed they had me completely snowed to the point I could tell you what happened got 6 months of my life. I do not want to go back to that at all. Even on 4 mg of adtivan ( the one thing they pressed for me to at least take) I can't sleep more than 2 hrs w/o still having night tremors....
@virgox33 tell me about it…I finally made them let me off lexapro because I felt like zombie, not much help when you already swing between numb and overwhelming pain. I am not sure I remember the 9 months they had me on it with 2 other men’s as well. Mind you I HATE pills. I don’t even use for headaches, I just drink water and close my eyes till it improves. I wish they could help us without all the mess.
