My first chemo treatment was a little more than a week ago, and of all the side effects, nausea has been the least of my problems. Then it hit last night! Phenergan is awful--causes nightmares, etc. for me. The best thing that has worked for me is soda crackers and ginger tea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Ann (hollyanna)

Ann,
Call your Onco and tell them the side effects, they will work with you. I was given Zofran and it is the best! it works great for me but I do get headaches from time to time from it, but I take headache medicine and Im fine. Talk to your Onco I am sure they will help you.. noone needs to fight this fight while fighting nightmares! NOT FUN!!!
Hang in there,
Amy
Thanks so much, Michelle and Amy.
The pharmacy just delivered my Zofran.

Nausea is awful pepermint stars work good too. You need to take the anti-nausea BEFORE the nausea starts or it doesn't work. Oldanestron also works good. Remember BEFORE the nausea starts. Hope we all helped! HUGS!
I have to take the nausea meds for 5 days around the clock no matter what or the nausea will set in and it is NOT fun!!! Hope the meds are working for you.

Zofran is good, also ginger (any purest form), peppermint tea, Vicks Vapor (sounds weird but apply to your temples on side of forehead) I hope that helps, when I was pregneat I threw up 20+ times a day. God Bless
Thanks to all for your comments! The best thing that I have found for immediate relief is real ginger ale (some brands do not have real ginger or just a little bit). My husband bought me some Blenheim ginger ale at Fresh Market. It is made in SC and is hot! I could not drink it straight before cancer, but now I can.
The zofran helps if I take it before the nausea sets in. I took it first thing yesterday am and went to early church (only a few people so we did not have to sit by anyone), and I felt sick and weak during the short service. When we got into the fresh air, I felt better. The rest of the day was a struggle and I did not bother to take any more zofran.
Today I am feeling much better.
Ann
