Does anyone live in the Toronto area and is attempting to taper off of benzos? If so, I am a fellow sufferer and would like to find relief in activities with someone in the same boat.

Sorry no, but I would love to support you in whatever way I can! Hugs!

Do you know anyone who does brain transplants?
thanks for the sweetness.

I went off Ativan cold turkey, my advice is don't do that lol

No, cold turkey is not fun. The best way is to taper slowly.

I taper off all the time. The truth is, I enjoy being on them way too much to ever give them up completely. I stay on them until they stop working, then taper off and start the cycle all over. No big whoop for me.

As far as I concerned...Ativan is a miracle drug. It helps me sleep and has got me through some tough times. I don't ever see myself giving them up. When I do find myself taking too high a dose...I just taper back. It really is no big deal tapering off Ativan...your body adjusts quickly.

@sogoodtaya how often and in what doses do you take generally?

@allstressedout I usually take 3 to 4 mg in the evening a couple of hours before bed everynight.

@sogoodtaya cool. One more question for you. My Dr. says that people do not theoretically develop a tolerance to benzos. Addiction yes, but tolerance would suggest that the anti-anxiety effects wear off over time. Do you find that the drug doesn’t work as well the longer you take it?

@allstressedout No I haven't. I have been taking Ativan everyday for 1 1/2 years and have not developed any "tolerance" to it at all. The drug works just as well as it did when I first took it...I would even say it's effects have "matured" with time. What I mean by this is that over time, I have become more comfortable with using the medication which has had a positive effect on controlling my stress and anxiety.

@sogoodtaya great to hear that. As a fellow anxiety sufferer I’m always so happy for other when they find something that works.
