Does anyone think adderall increases depression
Hi Derhonda. I can only speak from the standpoint of our son who took a fairly low dose for a few years for childhood ADHD. He's doing great now.....but one thing I've learned more about recently is how any drug that manipulates brain chemistry, it can have leftover affects even after stopping. If we hit our brains with something on a regular basis, our brain will adjust and basically say "ok if you're going to hit us with this chemical over and over, we'll just stop making it ourselves".....the word Dysphoria is what I'm talking about. Almost all of this is reversable so don't be discouraged, just aware, and then it's about doing all the good things that our brains need to naturally rebuild, replenish, readjust.......exercise might be at the top of the list. Good food, sunshine, music, family and friends, and so on and so on....
If you or someone you know is experiencing more serious depression, then of course it might be best to reach out for a little more help which is absolutely fine......and I hope everything is ok.
TY HARPA!
Pretty much all psych drugs (and migraine drugs) work by trying to correct a neurotransmitter imbalance in your brain. Adderall is supposed to increase the Dopamine levels floating around in your brain. If your problem is not a Dopamine deficiency then that could increase the neurotransmitter imbalance in your brain. If its not working then your doctor should adjust the dose or try something else.
