Effexor - Side Effects?

Just trying to push passed these side effects. Some I'm not sure is a side effect or my ED or what....

Been getting nauseous: majorily - know that's a side effect, it passes after an hour or so once I take the meds and than off and on later through the night and day..

Been feeling exhausted: been tossing and turning most of the night. Got a little more sleep last night. Not sure if it's insomnia, side effect, or what... :(

Been feeling off balance: A little dizzy, can't focus: not sure if this is part of a side effect or from not eating anything in a while.. :( or a mixture of both... Having my husband drive us to church tonight. I don't feel comfortable driving by feeling like this...

Been getting this hot and cold flash after I take the meds and lasts through the night... :/

Still feeling a little numb (emotionally) but not bad as yesterday...

Been feeling some anxiety for some odd reason...Do I need to be concerned?

Just trying to get use to this and give it times... just exhausted... still trying to push through this and taking it easy.

Hello there! I think that what you are experiencing is a combination of your body's adjustment to the new meds and total exhaustion. You have been through a lot, so maybe give your mind and body a bit of a break and try to relax as much as you possibly can. Though, contact your doctor or a nurse for advice just to check in on these symptoms that you are experiencing. Please keep sharing with us and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks! Will try to see how it goes this week. If it gets bad or doesn't let up, I may bring this up with the doctor next week.

Tried to eat some spaghetti this afternoon, didn't eat yesterday or this morning. So I ate and felt so sick like I was going to throw up. It wasn't ED related, but felt sick :( Was it too much? Just trying to get passed this... :(

colorfulgirl...what you describe can be common with this medication, and it should dissipate soon. If these symptoms do not lessen, please tell your doctor. This might not be the medication for you. Effexor works very well for some people, but for others, it can be a terror! It can affect your sleep greatly because it is an 'activating' medication, so keep on top of how you are feeling, and please make sure you let your doctor know.
Take care...Jan ♥

Thanks Jan :) Some of the side effects started going away, so that's good :) Just exhausted this morning, but was able to get a little more sleep last night which was nice :) Still having a hard time focusing, but doing okay. The sick feeling after I ate, started going away after an hour or so, so happy for that. :) Thank you, everyone for helping me through this :)

Hi Colorfulgirl29, how are you doing and feeling now? Are the meds taking better effect and have you been sleeping better?

Hey there puppydoglvr! I'm doing so-so at the moment. Andy (my husband) and other people say they notice a difference in my mood (in a positive way), but are extremely concerned I lost so much weight... :( I've been able to get more sleep at night which is great! So that's good. Some people mentioned maybe the reasons why I'm still somewhat depressed is because of me not eating enough or not eating at all... not sure.. :( still working on opening up to everyone on what's going on.. just hard...Just glad the suicidal thoughts has lifted a great deal and not thinking much of them anymore. I assuming that's good. Hope everyone is well. Trying to hang in there and giving this medicine some more time. Had to up the dose on Monday to one tablet twice daily... just hoping it helps...

Olivia, I am so happy to hear that you are sleeping better and your mood has improved. That's wonderful. I am sure that your eating will be the next step for you. You have already accomplished so much, try not to put too much pressure on yourself now. Take it one small step and one day at a time. I know that you will get there.

sweet olivia--
i'm relieved to hear that your mood has shifted, but i agree with jan about staying on top of the side effects. i took it for a while...and [i must steal jan's word] it was a terror. i hope you work out the side effects- but if not, i urge you to tell your doc and to try something else...
