Feeling Guilty

I was supposed to quit smoking on March 1st. Since then I have smoked four cigarettes. I feel so guilty about it but I'm having a really hard time giving it up completely. I've smoked for 18 years and I feel lost without cigarettes. I want to quit for my health and for a longer life with my family but it is so hard to let go of that comfortable feeling of having one when I need one. I am on nicotine lozenges and they help with the nicotine withdrawl but not with everything else that comes with letting go of the habit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can deal with letting them go completely?

Hi Stacey, I think that you are well on your way to quitting because you have all of the right motivation, most especially your health. I found this site to be so helpful; http://www.readytoquit.com/. I hope this helps.

Stacey, don't feel guilty because your doing the right thing. I quit cold turkey and my body and brain is going thru withdrawals big time, I'm not happy about the results. The best way to quit smoking is to slow down first and eventually stop. What your doing is right. Before you know it you'll be down to 1 a day then you'll just stop. Best wishes Judy

Hello Stacey,

Congrats on having the willpower to quit. I know you'd like to have a 100% success rate, but the fact that you have only smoked 4 times in over 100 days is amazing.

Good Luck!
