Fever

My temp. seems to be running higher than normal for me. I am usually around 97.1, today I am running 98.7. I feel feverish. My question is am I contagious? My best friend just had chemo last Wednesday and I don't want to compromise her system. I am beginning to think that the NHL has reared its ugly head again. I feel overwhelming fatigue, yawning so much that your eyes tear up, and my body saying it needs to lay down. Sometimes I go to sleep and other times I just rest. I see the Oncologist on the 22nd. I have not worked for 8 days as I have no energy or motivation. This is not me. I feel like I am moving in slow motion and walking through sand uphill. I am controlling the itching with Aveeno baths and benadryl. My weight is steady, because I am forcing myself to eat. I have no appetite.

I really look forward to reading the new posts. So glad that others understand what we deal with. I do have more swollen lymph nodes. I have one on my collar bone that every now and then I get shooting pain. I am wondering if it is pushing on a nerve. Any one else have that happen?

Wishing all a good week and warm and sunny weather.

Hi, Stitches.
My dh has NHL and a couple of the symptoms he's supposed to watch for is fatugue and fever.
Just me, but I'd call the onc on Mon.
I'm sorry you're so tired. Not a fun way to feel.

Prayers for a speedy diagnosis and getting the care you deserve.
Please keep us posted, ok?

Wishing you all the best!

Hi Stitches,Welcome to our friendly group. So your thinking your cancer is back? How long have you had NHL and what kind of treatments have you had? The only time I can recall pain was when I had an enlarged node next to my heart.Usually get the itching first off.I've been dealing with this so long I can just tell when mine is back. Its a sense or gut feeling I get.Well keep us posted on what you find out.Take care,Michele Dx1995 Low grade Follicular stage 3

I am thinking it might be back, but I have been wrong behind. Hope I am again. April 2009 started a journey on a path I will always be on. NHL follicular mixed cell, stage 3-4, grade 2. Did 3 rounds of R-CVP, then 4 more rounds of Rituxan. Pet scan results clear. Started maintainence Rituxan every 2 months. Stopped in Feb 2010 due to severe allergic reactions lasting 6-8 weeks out. Severe itching being the worst. Last pet scan in Oct. 2010 was still clear, however showing some outward signs of NHL. Oncologist thinks something is going on but blood work is still OK. I have full faith in her and have been on W&W. This has been a whirlwind and something that not anyone can imagine going through. I have had to learn to slow down and let things go that I can’t control.

Still off work yet this week. Hopefully going back next Tuesday. I work 2 jobs with one being a tax preparer so this is my busy time and I can’t be in the office much. I was used to working 60-70 hr weeks and this year cut it down to 50-60. Everyone says that I am just exhausted. I agree. I thought I had backed my hours down enough. Guess not. I work a regular 40 hr week in addition to due taxes.

Hope all is well.

Wow! Stitches, you are incredible! What long hours.
Wishing you and everyone all the best.

Stitches,You really need to slow things down a bit ,must you work such long hrs?We only get one go at life unless your a cat who has nine lives.Kidding!!!Must had time to smell the roses or sit on the porch with your feet up and a glass of wine or whatever in your hand. You get my gest. Good day,Michele Dx95FNHL3

Oh, I am begininng to understand the sit back and put your feet up. Water is drink of choice, but have been known to have a cold beer. Golf league will start in a couple of weeks and I will open my pool after Mother’s day so the relaxing time is coming. It seems I work hard for 8 months to have 4 to relax. Feeling somewhat better today. Temp is back to my normal. Tomorrow will be sunny and 65. I need to clean up the yard. So, playing outside and in the dirt is coming.

Hi Stitches87, hope you are doing well today! Read your earlier post from last week and thought I would respond - hope things are better now. I also have weird temperature swings, thought I had a bum thermometer at first. Still not sure. I have been trying to find the old fashioned kind, you know the ones that had mercury in them and were pretty accurate? Impossible, so I have this plastic newfangled thing with batteries that beeps and buzzes and gives me strange digital readings. This morning I got up and my temp was 96.9. Half hr later it was 99.8 and the things was buzzing like crazy! I guess that's what it does if the temp is too high. Then I waited about 45 minutes and it was back down to 98.0. So, I don't know if I just have these wildly abnormal temp swings or it is caused by the lymph. I will say that I have not had any chills or feverish feelings with any of these temp variations.

I also have a node in my collar bone area (actually have 2 swollen nodes on both sides) but the one on my left side radiates pain throughout the day and occassionaly will just spasm with a shooting intense pain. Then it goes away. I don't know if it is sitting on a nerve or what, because it is not that big so I can't imagine it is putting so much pressure on anything. ALso have a tiny one on the back of my neck that bothers me alot. Sometimes I like to think that maybe my body's immune system is fighting the tumors and the pain I feel is the response of the cancer cells being destroyed! Who knows?
