Today is my first day on my quest for 220 pounds. I'm a 27 year old professional male from Minneapolis. I am 6'1. I officially start my quest for 220 pounds today with a starting weight of 282.2 pounds. This isn't the most I've weighed in my life but I'm finally realizing that yo-yoing up and down isn't going to work anymore. I started today with 2 eggs over easy and a single slice of buttered toast. To help me keep in perspective why this is going to help me lose weight I just have to remember that my breakfast today is about half of what I normally eat on a work day morning. My biggest problem isn't so much bad food as it is I'm basically in denial about how much I eat. I joined this support group just to have someone(s) that can hold me to task if I start to slip and also to look for diet and exercise advice and mental support advice. I've tried to lose weight before but I usually let other factors dictate whether I stuck with it instead of seperating my weight loss from the rest of my life.
So I look forward to getting to know some of you and working this journey together.
sounds like a good start to the day loosing weight is hard i know because im overweight myself but it is alot easier with other people helping and encouraging you to meet your goal i look forward to your future posts and hope you have a great day.
big hugs and be safe today

Hey Ryan,
I totally get where you are coming from! I love healthy food and have a hard time keeping in perspective how much I eat. Just because I have a large salad in front of me is not a reason for eating it all. One thing i try really hard to do, especially eating at a restaurant, is to order a togo box with my meal and putting half, or more, of my meal in that box. At least it gets rid of that temptation of picking at the rest of my food after I am full. I too am looking for support for when I start slipping and resisting the changes I want to make. Also looking for fun exercises. Hate running and walking! Let me know how things go or if you find some awesome exercises! My inbox is always open for support!
I can give some advice, sure! First of all, I highly recommend the 3 hour diet. It's the one I'm doing right now, and it all about losing weight with your metabolism, and not depriving yourself. I think it's the best diet out there, personally. I've even tried the South Beach Diet once for a month or so, but ended up partly starving myself and I ended up weighing more than when I started. So if you can check it out of the library or something, I'd highly recommend it, seriously. I hope I don't come off as some marketer though! If you eat every 3 hours, and eat small portions and healthy food, it'll help you maintain muscle which burns more calories, as opposed to fad diets which destroy muscle mass and lower the number of calories you burn a day at rest. The book has diet, exercise, and mental support advice. Since its "secret" is to eat fruits/veggies, whole carbs, and a little fat in every meal, and to eat often, the rest of the book has to be filled with support tips. Hope this helps and best wishes! Feel free to PM me.
