I am new to this group and this is where I'm starting....I have, I believe, a problem with spending money and shopping. I buy things when I don't have the money and I write checks and worry about getting the money in the bank afterwards.
I am on the verge of making my family homeless and I know I need help. Any suggestions on where to start??
Well I would but I don't have any money to save. My husband got a brain tumor and was injured on the job 6 years ago and he is totally disabled. He does get money from disability but it is way less then we were a customed too.
If you spend using checks and then worry how you will cover the chks afterwards, this is not good. You can get into alot of trouble writing bad checks. Please be careful! You may want to attend a debtor's anonymous open meeting just for some guidance. If you were accustomed to a different lifestyle prior to your husband's accident then you may need to make some adjustments. Sit down, breathe deep and take a look calmly at the figures. What matters is your emotional, financial and physical well being...not all the things that come with having more money...
Yes, it is soooo hard to change, but you just have to right now, it may not be forever...Maybe you can get work, I do not know your situation. But certainly you do not want to make matters worse by spending the cash faster than it comes in....Best to you and your husband..Keep the faith! Amy
