I almost purchased flowers to be sent to my office so I would be incented/rewarded to show up to work. It is ok. You can laugh...I am now.
Disgusted, and prevented by the delivery charge, I cancelled...but to have the thought cross my mind!
My incentive should be the personal satisfaction of knowing I made it through another tough day, conquering any internal turmoil I have and fulfilling an obligation.
Hope this inspires someone. And if you do purchase flowers for yourself, I say AMEN...just wish I could afford to. :)
No you haven't lost it. I like the idea. I think it's kind of like purchasing the €30 bottle of moisturiser, you know you can't afford but just to say "well done me".
Flowers are a great way to say congrats too:) Just so long as you don't go for a handbasket of puppies or something like that I think you are ok.
I purchase flowers for myself once a month $7.00 to $10.00 for beauty & wonderful smells & I'm at the grocery store anyway sooooooo, enjoy, unless your not eating or dont have a roof over your head, have fun.
Hi Determined2succeed, I absolutely love the idea of buying yourself something as a reward. Maybe if not flowers, then something simple that brings you happiness. One of my close friends who I met in my previous career taught me to reward myself, otherwise the day-to-day madness of work would drive me mad. It really helped and worked. It honestly helped me keep my sanity.
Maybe try purchasing smaller items that make you smile. I love dried mangos and that's a total treat for me, or a frozen yogurt. I keep it simple for now. One day, I'll reward myself with the bigger items, and so will you :-) After all, these things should bring us happiness and not stress.
i post myself a postcard of somewhere i like the look of or a place i want to go, even cards if they are cheap enough its the thrill of knowing they are on the way thru the post but not when they are going to turn up that makes every day fun for me
I have purchased flowers for myself before. I see noting wrong with that. If we don't take care of ourselves then who will? I feel like I deserve being good to myself. I do have the food and everything else taken care of. I told my mom years ago for her to take herself out to eat sometimes. You don't ave to go out to the expensive places - just out to eat and get out amongst others. You can't take money or your material possessions with you when you die so you best to enjoy it while you are alive while you can. My mom goes out to eat a few times a week as do I. It's a treat for me.
That's so fantastic Bluidkiti! I think that it is so important to take care of ourselves, because if we don't, then sometimes no one else will. And the suggestion to your mom is really wonderful, I want my mom to do more for herself and I am constantly trying to get her to do so. In my case, being single, I really need to step up and treat myself otherwise all work and no play [or treats] can get a bit mundane. So, the little treats here and there adds that needed pep.
Ya know what. Sounds like a good idea! I mean it's hard to support yourself sometimes and I have to say that if it wasn't for my dogs demanding me to get up in the morning somedays I probably wouldn't. I just think it's great that you can ask have I lost it because that show a good grip on reality. The idea makes me wish there were flowers next to me right now. :-)
Christine B. & July, I dream of the day that I can have dogs. I just gave notice on my apartment so that I can move to a home where they allow dogs. You two are so blessed and lucky to have such wonderful companionship.
That’s great. I hope you can have a puppy of your own now. My 3 truly add such a tremendous amount of joy in my life. I do feel blessed and lucky. Nice hearing from you.
Oh that's great puppy. Animals bring such a joy to your world they really do. Have you thought about which one you want, awww, I'm so jealous, wish our dog was a puppy again, although she's adorable, puppies are so cute.
Thank you so much July & Moongal! I am really getting so excited. It will probably be a couple of months before I get one, because between moving from a new place and settling into a new one in a different city it will take a bit of time. But knowing that I can get one in the near-term is the best feeling ever, brings me so much joy. And I will most definitely share photos as soon as I get one. I plan to go to the shelter and think I will know when I see my puppy.
I am SO happy to hear you will go to a shelter. I rescued my dogs, all in different places for different reasons. They all need a good home and it brings me so much joy to hear a dog will soon be in a lovely home with you!
Hey Puppy,
That's where we got our dog, she was in a cage type thing with her other brother and sister (someone had abonded them) and she just ran up to my sister and started jumping to be picked up...so then she just knew she had to bring her home.
She's only a small dog, a cross breed of a terrior/collie and she is as lovable and friendly as you'll get.
