Tonight I was noticing some very profound swelling in my stomach area. i mean--like WOW--it is a lot. It is scary to me. I do have Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS) and yes that does cause a ton of swelling but this is just getting weird and down right scary...
It is even painful to eat now. I tried dinner and almost could do it and afterwards I was in so much pain I was almost doubled over. Now I know IBS can do that, but I am starting to get very fearful and annoyed here.
Last month I had some very very critical stomach problems --so bad that I had to go to the hospital and have IVs in me--luckily now that has gotten better( I had ingested something very bad). During that time in the hospital they did a CAT SCAN and it was all fine EXCEPT they found an enlarged ovary. Now i do also have fibroids which is painful and now this. They told me it might be just normal but to check it out... So, the next doctor appointment I had I got a number for the gynecologist. He told me it might be a possible ovarian cyst.
I'm afraid to call. what if it is cancer??? Both my mom and dad have/had cancer...so Im like worried. I should have called last week but im so scared. I know I have to call and get this overwith and now my stomach area is so swollen and in so much pain. I mean I have 3 things that cause abdominal swelling 1. IBS 2. fibroids and 3 a possible ovarian cyst.
I am worried. I know I have to call and am going to first thing in the morning. I should not have put this off cause now im so swollen in my tummy I cant move hardly any...ughhhhh
I cant help but be embarrassed by this abdominal swelling now. I know it isnt my fault but it embarrasses me. I know I have to resolve these issues and not worry how it looks cause if I worry about that--- I'll just drive myself nuts. I keep telling myself it isnt fat--it is just a medical condition.
So I'll call tomorrow. and hope for the best. Im just worried if it is cancerous.
Im sorry youre having to go through so many difficulties with your stomach lately. I know it is hard but worrying about it may make you feel worse. try to distract yourself until you can get to the Dr. Like you said it could be your ibs or the fibroids. I have ovarian cysts which sometimes cause bloating and discomfort in my abdomen. Could be that since you may have an ovarian cyst. Just hang in there Maureen and know that we love you and are here for you. Good luck at the drs. Ill be thinking of you! Nicole
thanks nicole so much!!! much appreciated. maybe ovarian cysts are quite common?? that is what i have heard. and that they can be taken out easily...cause if it is a cyst---i will get taken out along with the fibroids. no we dont have the money for surgery but i cant be like this.
yes worrying wont help me in this at all...i know...
thanks nicole!!!!!!!! so much!!!!
i will distract!
Wow :( I'm so sorry. I hope the doctor can figure out what's wrong, and you can get to feeling better. You may be feeling stressed and worried, but you can get through this though, and will.. keep telling yourself that. If I were you, I'd take someone to the doctor with you to keep you company. It may help keep your mind off of it if you can focus on something else.
Mareen,
I hope you can see the doctor quickly and find out what is going on. Fibroids are often/usually benign, but you certainly need to determine what is causing all of your discomfort, and see what can be done. Please keep up all updated!! Take care....Jan ♥
hi jan,
yes i do need to call like pronto. not good of me to put this off at all. fibroids are all benign yes --thankfully–the possibe cyst though–well they are usually mostly begnign—a lot of women do get that.
and if the doctor does find the cyst–im taking both the fibroids and the cyst–OUT.
I hope you can get into the doctor soon... ♥ Don't let fear hold you back... I think you'll feel better when you have some answers; there's nothing worse than doubt! ;0)
sigh…yes ill feel better after i get some answers…
this reminds me of when i found a lump in my breast in 2007 and i put it off (going to the doctor) for 2 months. now this time i wont do that…i will feel better when i know what this is.
I hope everything will be okay!!!!
I am with you on the being afraid to go to the doctor though. I was in emerge again this weekend. Apparently I have mild pneumonia. What else could go wrong I keep thinking.
I will definitely keep you in my prayers hon.
Love and Hugs
Shana
Hi Maureen: I am late (as usual) to this post but I echo the others. Ovarian cysts are quite common but also nothing to mess with. The sooner you go to the Dr the sooner you will know and the anxiety will lessen
I am praying for you always, dear friend and am proud of how brave you have been these past weeks.
Love Hugs and Prayers
hi molly!!!!!! thanks !!! yes i know--it isnt anything to mess with especially with fibroids AND ovarian cysts!!!! i FEAR my next period!!!!!
ughhh ..i called the OBGYN but do you know i lost the original refferral my doc gave to me??ughhh!! sigh sgih--i cant beleive that but so much has happened in the past month! so i had to call my doctors secretary and got it from her but i swear it isnt the same doctor he gave me. so i called and set up a time for 4: 00 on November 23rd. it is the only appt. i could get after 4:00. ughhhhh it takes a long time to see docs most of the time and this is so my fault for putting it off--i should have called right after my birthday but nope--i put it off.
so i have to deal with it now...
a month goes by pretty fast though--just WEIRD it is the day after my mom's passing...sigh..
you know i dont like that this appointment is too far. this is my bad for postponing calling the doctor. ughhh..
i should also not look up ovarian cysts online and freak myself out about ovarian cancer. they say that the vast majority of ovarian cycts are not cancer. especially under 35 years old( thankfully im 34). but there are some that are cancerous... ugh and i have both parents that had/have cancer... but i think worrying about this aint gonna help...
you know what i was just thinking about that and i dont like this now... this just doesnt sit well at all with me especially since i have pain associated in the whole pelvic area...
i am going to call and see what i can do to schedule this sooner--im going to think about what i can do to get this done faster....i kinda dont want to be worrried and/or in pain for that long---
and then yyou have to wait for the actual test to be scheduled!!! doctors really do take time when they make appointments--- it is hard to get one fast. ive always know that about doctors but i will do my best to get this done sooner...
i would call right away too. i know you're scared but you will have the facts you need to make decisions and that's alot better than being in the dark with your health.
i had fibroids and it was painful and i was so worried it was cancer but they did one small procedure and now years later i feel tons better
good luck
be well
Honestly if its worrying you that much it might be worth just going to the ER. I have no idea how health care works in the USA, but here where I live in Canada, doctor visits and hospital visits are free....it couldnt hurt?
