I have had dermatillomania for years. My skin is crap. Dry, itchy, huge pores, pimples and scabs. Its not as bad as I have seen on TV when they interview someone about their dermatillomania but I think my skin still needs help. Anyone have any good remedies? Also I always have a painful shave when I shave my legs. My skin is so sensitive and irritated easily. The razor (no matter what I use) tears up my skin and Ive tried all sorts of different lotions and gels and soaps to shave with. I think I need something I can put on or do to my skin daily to improve the shaving process. I don't have money for waxing or laser treatments. Anyone have any advice?
Hi Txmama, I found a few sites that I believe can be helpful, as they provide natural remedies that may help you;
http://www.grannymed.com/meds/dry-skin.aspx
http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com/25-natural-remedies-for-dry-skin.html
And, here is a Site that can help you through your dermatillomania;
http://www.brainphysics.com/skin-picking.php
"Natural Remedies: Some people benefit from the B-vitamin inositol, which seems to reduce the urge to pull or pick. It is broken down by the body into two neurotransmitters that enhance the activity of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin, is a brain transmitter that may be implicated in OCD and related disorders. Inositol needs to be taken in large quantities, but will not build up to toxic levels as it is a water soluble vitamin."
MAJOR THANKS!
Hi Txmama, how are you doing and feeling? Were any of the tips helpful? I hope that you are doing well.
