Hello all..I'm new and have a question

B.3.3.e(3) Hi, I am Sarah. And I am finally posting and declaring myself a member of this group. For years I have known something was wrong with me in the reproductive area. But the diagnosis became official this January. I’ve struggled since and lied to myself that some test somewhere will come in and show that something can be done. But after a baseline FSH of 86 and AMH which was very low, I don’t think anything can be done. So I am looking for information and support through this loss which is so personal, so unusual and just absolutely devastating. Even as I am writing this thoughts like “why me?”; “why did I have to be the unusual one?” are surrounding and threatening to drown me. Anyway…so I finally accept defeat. I am 37, married and have probably been in POF since my early thirties.
I also have a very important question. Due to mood swings, depression and hot flashes my doctor just put me on estradiol. This is also to prevent osteoporosis in the long run I suppose. It’s estradiol and progesterone, both hormones my body’s not making. And I am reading about the side effects. The one that is scaring me is weight gain and water retention. I always struggle with my weight and have a very bad body image. I know this will be detrimental to me as I have struggled with eating disorders in the past. Does anyone here have any experience with estradiol? Did you gain weight? I have only been taking it for about 6 days and am up 3 lbs in weight, also my breasts are larger and I feel swollen. I’d appreciate any help at all on this.
It is nice to find a safe place to come and read similar stories, heartbreaking as they are. Thank You for all of you who have posted here. I am looking forward to getting to know you better.
Thanks!
Sarah.

Hi Sarah, I am very sorry for what you are going through. Although, I really don't know my own situation, as I am 37 and never tried to get pregnant, I am here to offer my help and support in any way that I can. Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns about weight gain and any possible alternatives? Is it possible to eat lighter/healthier and exercise a bit more in order to combat the weight gain? This is just my immediate thought. Also, has your doctor given you other options for having children? You are in my thoughts and prayers.
