Hello everyone! I am 17 years old and I've been strugling with acne since I was 12. I thought that it would pass, so I didn't give much notice. But when I noticed that they are not going to pass naturaly, I've started seeing doctor. He first gave me some products like soaps, creams etc and they didn't help. So, about two years he gave me Roaccutane and after six months of using it they passed. My face was finally clear. However, in last 2-3 months they started breaking out again. Not in that number, but 3-4 are always on my face... And, after I started shaving, I always have some ingrown hairs because of my sensitive skin... It gives me some insecurity. They tell you that everyone has them, they will pass, but no. I've never meet a person with acne as mine. Never. And they will not pass anytime soon probably... My friends and family don't care about them at all, but I do... So is there any advice on how to cope with them? Thanks

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. : ( I literally had no acne in high school because I was on the pill. Then kaboom, the rest of my adulthood I had it. I'm not a guy so for me it was hormones. But I'm wondering if your shaving cream or shaving lotion or aftershave or any of that could be clogging your pores or maybe causing an allergy of some sort. Just a thought. I hope you figure it all out though, dude. For me, dealing with it was a matter of not focusing on my appearance. As a young adult I had to learn to concern myself with the kind of person I am in my heart, am I full of the fruit of God's Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness and discipline) and how do I treat others, do I treat them how I want to be treated? If you set your mind on loftier matters, like preparing for your future and being a success along with the stuff I mentioned above, people will be more likely to think of you with fondness and you'll be more likely to get your mind off your appearance, which is actually a very temporal thing anyhow. At my age I know all about that. Outer beauty or attractiveness never lasts. Inner qualities are lasting. And you know what, I do think that once you may start looking for attracting a mate, as an adult, you'll find someone would prefer to think of the inner qualities than the outer ones for a good long term relationship.

@Scat Thanks for your advice and nice words! I appreciate that… After watching some youtube videos, I saw that sone people cured their acne with diet change. So I disovered what causes my acne, or at least makes them worse - sugar… So I tried to stop consuming processed sugar for about a week and results were great - they are less red and they were almost not there. But after that week, I started eating it again. And they got worst, so I stopped eating it again and I now am waiting for results. About shaving, I don’t have problem about it anymore :smiley: I found a way to prevent it. Again, thank you. (Sorry for a late reply :)) Have a nice day

I'm so proud of you for taking the time to think about how what you ate could impact your acne. I'm also very happy for you. And I do think you'll be healthier in other ways because of your due diligence. Good going, friend.

@Scat Thank you! :smiley:
