Hello,

First post. I have been diagnosed as a severe and persistent asthmatic. I have been on some form of asthma control for roughly 6 years now. My current meds :

- Advair 500mg 1pf / morning + night
- 20mg Prednisone daily (it fluctuates though from 15mg to 50mg depending on state of health)
- Dymista
- Nexium
- Singular
- Diuretic
- Nebulizer as needed
- CPAP nightly with highly elevated bed
- I have also taken 5 rounds of antibiotics this year alone trying to fight of at least two infections. The combination that worked this year is Levaquin 750 + Diuretic (to get fluid off lungs).

I was approved for Bronchial Thermoplastly but backed out due to unconvincing research for severe asthmatics.

Anybody out there with similar med regiment and asthma state? I mostly wanted to swap stories if so. Find others with similar conditions to my own and find out techniques that might help me get off Prednisone - I am close to saying Prednisone is worse than asthma and I am desperate to find a way off of it.

Thanks

How is your weight and general health besides the Asthma?

@CKBlossom

I am 6’3". I was typically below 220 lbs prior to 6 years ago. Since onset of asthma, and I believe prednisone, I am now at 275 lbs and find it nearly impossible to keep the weight off. It is a complex viscous cycle of prednisone and weight gain. I also have severe arthritis in my left knee due to a sports injury earlier in my life. I also have back problems sitting in too - partially due to weight gain I suppose - partially hereditary as well. It is becoming overwhelmingly difficult to find a way to a healthier way of life with so many medical complications and medicine side-effects to combat.
