Hello, I am new to this group. I haven’t officially gotten a diagnosis of lupus, but my rheumatologist thinks I could have something brewing inside me. I am currently dealing with a lot of chronic pain in my shoulders, mid back and right wrist. It is hard to stand more than 10 minutes and I’m only in my mid 30’s. An MRI on my wrist has been showing bone marrow edema for over a year. About a month ago I woke up and both my shoulders were hurting. I could barley lift my arms until I got a short course of prednisone. I had low levels of ANA. I had a titer of 1:80. My rheumatologist suggested I try Plaquenil. Are there drugs you found helpful for joint pain? I’m also feeling depressed because I hurt so much. Before this I was extremely active person. Loved life for sure. I’m going through a rough time and I would love support and encouragement. Thanks.
sorry to hear your story- Lindsey12345. You should take Plaquenil following your rheumatologist instruction as the med is used to relieve joint pain, reduce fatigue and prevent flare ups.
Lupus is a harsh disease because of a variety of symptoms. But, many people with the disease also live happily. If your pain is severe, you can ask your rheumatologist for properly physical therapy. As i know, aqua therapy is effective in easing pain, you can ask your physician about it.
Besides, it's important to pay more attention to your diet. Eat more omega and vitamin foods to boost the immune system and strengthen your bones. You can also take supplements to improve your health. And keep in mind that reducing stress is an essential to avoid worsening the disease. Share your troubles with trusted people, or join some lupus support groups to get more experience. Best wishes to you.
Hi Lindsey. Many lupus patients have a happy life, you can also like that. My mother who suffered from wrist pain and fatigue used to take Plaquenil and Prednisone and had good relief. These meds are often prescribed to ease joint pain and reduce inflammation. So, keep taking them following your rheumatologist's prescription. At the same time, you should add more healthy foods to your diet, avoid processed or packaged foods. Thanks to good diets, healthy lifestyles and Lupufree supplement, my mother's health is improved more. The number of flare ups is also reduced. Hope you get better.
Plaquenil has shown to improve muscle and joint pain. It also prevents lupus from spreading to certain organs. But, if you experience headache, hair loss, loss of appetitte or nausea after taking it, should consult with your doctor. They can be side effects of plaquenil
