Hello. New Here. I've dealt with Severe Gluten Issues for 6 years. I've had blood tests run by 3 different doctors. All negative. I had an upper endoscopy done 6 years (when I had no gluten in my system). Never done the biopsy. I expressed this concern with my recent primary care, but she assured me that since I eliminated gluten from my diet, not to be worried, and therefore don't NEED the biopsy. So I may have Celiac, I may not. She's run non-invasive tests for liver, kidney, & other functions and ultrasounds of my gallbladder (& possibly another area around there. Actually just left them a message so I can know). All good. I had my gallbladder removal (supposedly due to birth control). Has anyone else had there gallbladder removed? Do they know if it's in relation to Celiac? What are other health concerns I should be aware of in case this is Celiac? Supposedly, if it's just a gluten sensitivity I am not suppose to have extra worries. (Not sure I believe that.) Even without gluten in my diet, I still have some issues with bloating & nausea (ongoing for years). I do eat take out probably on a weekly basis. My body prefers I eat at dedicated gf facilities, but that is very difficult, financially & geographically & cooking all my own food can be such a burden!!! That is a big reason I'm on here, because eating this way is soooo stressful!! Ya'll not what I mean!?!!!! Any input would be great. Thanks everyone!!!! Take care.
Wanted to add, Severe meaning with even cross contamination, I get nausea, may vomit, dizzy, headaches, bloating, stomach pain, etc.
Hey there! I have known I've had celiac for almost 4 years now and I'm honestly ALMOST used to it. The cooking part is pretty rough but nowadays many companies are becoming more and more gluten friendly! Do you have an Albertsons/safeway near you? These stores have almost an entire aisle dedicated to gluten free foods! There are frozen meals and everything too- that's what I try and buy for when I am too lazy to cook! Also- your username is phoenix warrior- are you in Arizona? In Tucson there is an AMAZING restaurant called gourmet girls and it saved my life when I moved to Arizona. Their food is so good it makes you feel normal eating pancakes and sandwiches again, PLUS no cross contamination- they don't allow any gluten in their restaurant! hopefully you have a place like this near you!
Thanks M. I am actually on the East Coast. I moved to Connecticut. There's a gluten free selection at multiple grocery stores and restaurants. It's just exhausting. I make most of my food from scratch, but the amount of time and effort it all takes is stressful. I miss the days of variety and quick meal making! Any health issues you are concerned about as a result of your celiac?
If you make your own foods from scratch there are many gluten free recipe alternatives out there. I found out I have Celiac Sprue Syndrom at 23 and am now 40. 17 years ago and in pristine condition.
