Hi everyone! Just joined this forum bc I have been dealing with genital herpes since 98 and just got my worst outbreak a few days ago. I talked to my doctor this morning and he actually deterred me from going on the valtrex preventitive treatment bc of the long term effects it can have on your kidneys. I want to get rid of this disease so frickin bad that I'm willing to sacrifice my kidneys to avoid another outbreak. I've been researching "holistic cures" on the web all day but not sure who to believe. Are they all scams? I know that the Valtrex industry is huge and if there is a natural cure out there, they would prolly go thru great lengths to "suppress" (lol, sorry for the pun) the info or keep it out of the Magazines. If anyone knows if there is a legitimate cure, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Pat!

@Anony I don’t wanna scare u but a lot of these pharmaceuticals are damaging to your liver and kidneys (as you prolly know). My doctor told me just hours ago that Valtrex, although very effective at keeping outbreaks from reoccurring, can be hurtful to your kidneys if used long-term. Although, I am going to try it, I’m still researching herbal remedies/alternatives to keeping herpes suppressed. Talk to your doctor if you’re concerned. Another reason I don’t like the valtrex is it upsets my stomach and that’s just the 500mg caplets. My physician prescribed the 1000mg caplets for the preventive treatment and I’m not sure my stomach can handle such a large dose at one time. Do your research; I’m doing mine

i take lysine u take one a day and 3 a day if u have a outbreak …. i took them daily in the beginning but then stopped but got a little flare up this week and took 3 a day and it retreated i also changed my diet and drank raw juices that boosted my immune system
@blonde30uk yes, I’ve read about lysine just a little while ago when I was searching the Internet. That sounds like something I may try after I’m done turning over every rock to find the best (healthiest) solution to this unrelenting disease. Thx for your suggestion! May I ask have you heard of using a combo of herbs (orally) to isolate the herpes virus and then to boost your immune system using a different set of herbs to eradicate the disease for good? I ask this of you and anyone on here bc I’m getting a lot of these so-called cures from these websites and not sure whether to believe the reviews. I just need to hear an unbiased view from someone who’s tried any of them. I’m a big proponent of herbal remedies but am still skeptical. Any input would be helpful. Thx! Pat
