Hi having trouble controlling my panic attack in a public place.. I wish my friends knew how are hard it is to control.
Hi, I know how you feel hun, I am just resolving this problem myself. If you can, get some medication. I used to take Zoloft, but it didn't help me but now I am on a new pill, don't remember what it is but yeah, meds can really help. Talk to a therapist. Also, talking to any trusted person you know can help. When at home, do things to relax yourself. Take a bath, go for a walk, draw, color (coloring has been proven to help relax people) listen to music, sing, cook, do whatever to help you relieve your stress. When you feel a panic attack coming on in public, stop for a moment, close your eyes, and try this mindfulness exercise: close your eyes and start to breath slowly and deeply in and out. each breath in count up. 1..2...3... but focus ONLY on counting your breaths. if you feel your mind wander, start over from 1, but try to see how far you can count without loosing focus. Another exercise is to think of a place that relaxes you, think of the details of it, like for example think of waves on a beach, how they would look if you were there, and how they would sound, and what you might feel such as the water on your feet and your toes in the sand. Good Luck and stay strong!
