Hi- I am 51 years old- had a stroke at 48- during this time I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy- I have the 2 gene factor- My Dad and his mother I think had it too- they have passed on not ever knowing this was in our genes- I am a nurse and have
never met anyone with Narcolepsy- I’m exhausted every minute of the day- I wish I knew someone who is dealing with this too- I’m from New Jersey- unable to find any support groups or people to talk to.
welcome! im not sure how well trafficked this group is, but I hope you find all the help you need here. you might also try some of our other groups and see if there are people there who can relate and help. I don't have this myself, so I can sympathize, but don't really understand it like someone who has this would
Hi. I'm sorry to be responding to you so late. I see this is yet another narcolepsy forum so dormant. This group as a whole though is pretty trafficked, so that's awesome. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy and it is very debilitating. I don't even know that debilitating is the right word to describe it. There is an active forum for people with narcolepsy (at the risk of a new member here getting kicked out). It is only a forum for Narcolepsy, so all other comorbid conditions you have, you came to the right place, but the site is called Narcolepsysupportgroups.org. You will know you found the right place when you see a sad puppy dog in the snow. It is a forum made by the members of the old Narcolepsy Network members when the NN forums shut down due to lack of funding. Hope to see you there, I am also tinyelephants on there. Different profile photo. I do hope to see you on both places. And I do hope to be able to talk to you, as I have the condition myself and I know how lonely it can be without support. By the way, I live in Georgia now, but I am also actually from New Jersey. Small World. :)
