Hi, is anyone familiar with someone who faints from extreme anxiety of phobias of medical procedures and testing, such as blood tests and IV insertion. It is a horrible and helpless feeling slipping into unconscious and sweating all over. Every time I feel like Im going to die. It happened to me the other day in the eye dr's office after I had suffered eye trauma. Very embarrassing and hard to control.
One time I fainted from shock because a cardboard cutout of an anime guy fell on me, THAT was embarrassing. I've only fainted from anxiety two times, and I don't remember them well... If you don't have a therapist or counselor, find one you like and work through this with them. That's extreme, and it can't be good for you either. Losing consciousness is a big deal, and you may have to see a doctor. Don't be embarrassed, I don't think anyone will fault you for something you can't control.
Yes I will do just that. Thanks for your advice and support. I can't count the # of times I've fainted throughout my life. Take care and be well.
@Ebabe It has happened a few times with me fainting due to extreme anxiety attacks. I am a survivor of a traumatic brain injury. After spending 4 months in the hospital, through Hell, and Back. Anytime I had a follow up appointment in a hospital to visited a doctor. Just a few minutes before, I am about to leave for the appointment, I would become light headed, and started to have panic attacks, and fainted. It was dehibilatating, I visited a therapist, and she made it very clearly to me. Yes I was so afraid of hospitals, I became do frightened of going to one, regardless that it wasn’t the hospital, I did my recovery in, after my injury. So now, I still have anxiety, but not so much to bring on fainting spells. Be strong, the best is yet, to followed… SG friends are here, yo support, and be supported.
