Hi, I've just been diagnosed with celiac. The smell of my poop is absolutely the most horrible thing I've ever smelled. What is the reason for this, does anyone know? And is it a symptom of celiac? Thank you .

You can't process gluten, it messes with your stomach and bowels big time.

Celiac is an autoimmune disease. Gluten causes your defense system to go into overdrive. It attacks your bowels and can destroy your ability to digest certain sustenance. Once it's gone, it's gone. As for frighteningly fragrant feces, not to my knowledge. Quitting gluten should only improve your bowels. I'd suggest looking into intestinal viruses. You've likely caught a bug.

I did check with my doc, and the fragrant smell is indeed a consequence of celiac and malnutrition. I am currently 85 pounds, so I’m definitely malnourished at this time.

Scientists are finding out it's the process of hybrid strands for producing high protein wheat that's causing this autoimmune disorder. As someone who has Celiac Sprue Syndrom really bad from birth I have found organic heirloom wheats and non durham wheats don't bother me like the mainstream durham wheat does. Rye and barley are bad too because they are mass produced for beer and such. Not sure why we have issues with those but it's definitely not natural what the corporations do to these strands.
