Hi. My husband was diagnosed with stage 2A Hodgkins last March. He went through 6 cycles of ABVD and then 2 weeks of radiation. About 5 or 6 treatments into his chemo he started to show a reaction to the Bleomycin, and after a PFT was done and showed a drop in his lung function the Bleo was removed from his regiment. He was given high doses of steroids to help stop the effects. He has been well since, but about a month ago he started having a dry cough. The cough has now gotten worse to where he will get into fits where his skin will tingle and get painful. Last night after a fit he complained of achy legs and within a few minutes was shaking uncontrollably and spiked a 101 fever. I'm really getting worried that his lungs are getting worse. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
Hey there, lots of hugs to you. Two of my loved ones had hodgkins and each one was so different than the other. My sister's lungs were effected but not from the bleomycin. How is your husband doing now? please remember to take care of yourself too, as hard as that is right now. Please keep us updated!
Thanks! I am doing better than I thought I'd be. On top of his starting chemo treatment last year, our third child was born, so it has been busy. My husband called his oncologist, and they found he has pneumonia. The antibiotics seem to finally be kicking in today. One of my brothers had Hodgkins in the mid 90s,and his experience was way different, and he relapsed once. Thankfully he has been cancer free for 14 years. He didn't get the lung damage though.
