How do you guys feel about things like crispr and other genetic engineering?
I feel like its good if people would use it responsibly but you know mankind it wont be used for that totally somebody will start playing God and it might end up like that movie gattaca where natural people are considered defective. Its like cloning, if they could just grow the bodies without the brain and other parts i think itd be amazing it could extend peoples lives and give us semi immortality but i dont know. Its really one of those things i think well just have to live and see how it goes. I dont think were gonna have to worry about it though because skynet and the sexbot toaster army will probably kill us before that happens lol.
@solitude1O1 Hm…a sexbot toaster army huh…Maybe the future won’t be so bad after all xD I bet you’re very probably right though. Humans aren’t exactly known for having restraint when it comes to discovering new ways to change things. Especially when those ‘things’ are ourselves. I’m kinda optimistic about it though, hoping we’ll use it to help eliminate diseases and disabilities. Also kind of accept that on top of that we’ll start changing infants so they’ll be super smart or super strong or super attractive for a price of course. A price that I’m betting very few will be able to pay which will inevitably lead to discrimination, modified vs non-modified.sigh I dunno man. I feel like humans are on a slippery slope where technology is speeding past our ability to handle it and use it responsibly. Hopefully I’m wrong, but my pessimistic intuition is pretty freakishly reliable. Hopefully though. Hopefully.
