How to cope with a smoker, after you've quit? I have many family members who died of cancer, so this has made me want to be smoke free. We have a smoke free home. But I can still smell smoke off of my partner.

There are lots of different ways to look at, so it' whatever context you can put it in and make you feel good about not smoking. Some of the ways I look at it: my partner eats food and does things I don't. Also, he HAS to smoke, has not taken control of his habit/addiction, I miss it sometimes but am happy that I don't HAVE to have it anymore.

@amethgr8 Thats right! I have been trying to be a non-smoker for over 20 years and have quit when I’ve had my children, or keeping busy doing other projects. I’ve decided to quit this year because its something I know I can control. Seeing my partner smoke upsets me because I know the outcome for his well being. I do my best to encourage him as much as I can, is all I can do.

yes, I have been trying for about 17 years. while I wish my partner would quit, like you said, we can only do so much.

@amethgr8 I work out eat well and do my best to be a role model for him that way. He gives me the motivation to persevere in all I do. Guess have to embrace his journey.
