How to? help!

does anyone on the board have a couple of years of soberity? and if so, how did you do it? was it with AA or without? do you have a sponsor? i think i may need a sponsor, but wanted to know if having 1 really does help?
I have never been to rehab for my drinking, never had a dui. But I do find myself coming home from work and worrying/drinking. My first died several years ago (anuerysm) but this husband is an cocaine addict and killing himself! how to do less worrying and less drinking, while loving and living with an addict! HELP!!

Hi Leah, thank you so much for being here and for sharing with us. Does your husband realize that he has a problem and would he be willing to seek treatment? As well, have you considered seeking another form of treatment, such as a therapy and a local support group as options?

dear puppydoglvr

my husband has been in 3-4 rehabs, but he always relapses.
this time his health is in trouble. the doctor says his bp is high and is having a echocardiogram test tomorrow! i think he is in denial, but now with his health in trouble he may HAVE to wake-up! i hope so for me/his sake!
as for me, i’m considering counseling to cope with his addiction and health issues! Thanks for caring! Leah!

Oh my goodness Leah, that's a lot to deal with and I think that you are so strong for being there for your husband all while trying to help yourself through all of this. I am hoping and praying that this is a huge wake-up call for your husband and that he gets his health in tact after this. High blood pressure is nothing to take lightly, as I was with my mom when the doctor told her that her blood pressure was high and all of the dangers that go along with it. And, I really hope that you seek counseling to help yourself through this time, as I think that it will be incredibly helpful. Please know that I am here for you and here to help you through this in any way that I can. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.
