I am 51 years old and just hit menopause. It started with hot flashes which I don't like but I knew they were coming. With some relaxation exercises I can manage the hot flashes but what I didn't expect was the dizzy spells. Last night I was trying to sleep when I rolled over and was hit by the worst dizzy spell that I've every felt. I ended up having three of them throughout the night. Now during the day I can't shake the dizziness and nausea. What is going on? I saw on the internet that it's caused by a sudden drop in hormone levels. It is awful feeling so out of balance. It's definitely time to go and take a nap. I don't have anyone in my life that I trust enough to ask for advice so I would love to know if these symptoms are normal and what have you done to make them better. Ugggg, I am not liking this process so far.
Hello and welcome to the group! I'm so sorry you are struggling but the great thing is that there are lots of ways to reduce your symptoms so that they are not so all consuming.
Do you use any vitamin supplements? I have found that for me ( We are all different and you should run anything past your Dr before trying) magnesium, increased doses of vitamin d3 and b vitamins have helped alot! Magneisum controls over 300 bodily enzyme functions and can help all kinds of symptoms from anxiety to hot flashes.
Limiting alcohol and caffeine can help reduce hot flashes as well.
Daily exercise is very important in energy levels.
I also use a bioidentical (plant based) cream called natural progesterone cream. I use Source Naturals brand and get it at Amazon for about $20 for a 4oz jar.
I hope this helps and you stop in often for support.
Glad you found us!
Thank you so much!! I have heard Black Cohosh will help but I don't have any right now. I do have Magnesium and I am definitely going to try it. Thankfully I gave up drinking about a year ago so I am happy about that. But give up Caffeine ugggggg! I don't know if I can (really I don't want to). Thanks for the support. I really needed it. Luv :)
@MildFaith you’re so welcome sweetie! I went thru some really rough times before I figured out how to deal with this mess!
I have tried Black Cohosh but it ended up making me gain nearly 15 ponds in three months so I quit using it.
You don’t have to give up caffeine totally, just cut back. I still have my 24oz cup in the morning but i cut out all caffeine past noon.
Glad to hear you gave up alcohol…it magnifys nearly all menopause symptoms! Especially mood swings and anxiety.
If you are going to use magnesium, make sure it is magnesium glyconate or taurate…other types of magnesium like oxide and citrate have a tendency to go right thru you, don’t absorb well and cause diareah. I use 400mg of magnesium glyconate before bed every day… really helps me with insomnia, mood swings, anxiety tinnitus, migraines, muscle cramps etc.
Vitamin D3 is great for a natural antidepressant. 5000iu a day helps keep my blues away:)
The book WHAT YOUR DR MAY NOT TELL YOU ABOUT MENOPAUSE has been a second Bible to me thru this! I have learned so much about hormone imbalance and the things I can do to help balance myself back out again without the compromise of cancer causing hormone replacement therapy.
Hope you have a great week ahead! I’ve got a 70 hour work week ahead of me so I may not check back in until later in the week if I’m too pooped to check my tablet so am sending hugs and prayers your way for a fabulous week! Stay safe and healthy!
