I am feeling frustrated and disappointed with myself. I am a 67-year-old type 2 diabetic and my A1C is not where it needs to be (9.6 and needs to be under 7)
and it is all because I cannot stay away from sugar - particularly fresh fruit. I went for YEARS not eating any sugar or carbs and had my diabetes totally reversed - and then I started eating sugar again and the results are obvious - I am an addict and I am putting my health at risk. It has to stop.
It can be so frustrating. Very impressive that you were initially able to reverse your diagnosis! You can get there again...
The disease runs in my family but none of my sibs have it.
I'm not a diabetic but sugar def is used more for avoidance and coping when I don't seem to have any other options...mixed between physical and probably mental addiction-- the 'nostalgic comfort'...uggh. Also my temperment needs lots of change and that includes flavor.
I find it most cruel that when yrs have gone by and you're finally in a position to buy unique & tasty items that make you feel like you're 'celebrating' life, they are pretty bad and not doing your body any favors. The whole 'get moving, get FIT' idea can feel so overwhelming!
Have you found a medical professional near you that can help you access your health situation?
What title would that professional fall under?
