have recently been diagnosed with fibro........been searching for 13 years for answers......don't exactly havce answers but have a title other than chronic pain and a justification for the meds I take I guess.....
I want to try a drug called savella ....any feedback?
I tried Savella. I used it for 3 days and was so sick I was almost hospitalized. If you do get it, read the warning signs VERY carefully. I missed one of them and paid for it badly. It was 2 weeks before I felt "normal" again. My doctor thinks I had an allergic reaction to it. I couldn't eat, couldn't walk, could barely speak after 3 days of meds!
It does work for some people but I would never recommend it after my problems. Lyrica is okay - just better than nothing.
Good Luck - I hope you are feeling better soon.
I am on my 4th week of savella…not noticeing alot of difference…still not sleeping all that good…afraid of lyrica due to my reation to neurontin several years ago…they are similar…I will give it a couple more weeks and then if I feel the same I will start to bring it down…
I tried Savella for about 6 - 8 weeks or so. I didn't feel I was getting any relief from the fibro pain so we backed it down and put me back on the Lyrica. The Lyrica helps me quite a bit actually with the fibro pain but the biggest side effect for me with it is that it makes me gain weight!!!
I had worked hard to lose over 40 lbs. prior to going on Lyrica. Well, within, a year of going on Lyrica, I gained all of the 40 lbs. back. That, of course, added to my depression!!! But without the Lyrica my fibro pain is so bad i can hardly bear it. What does one do????
It is hell for sure!!! But the extra weight I'm carrying around my middle section is not good for my heart eitheer!
I was diagnosed with Fibro... 3 years ago, the Dr.'s put me on about every anti-depressant possible, none worked.About a year ago I was put on lyrica which makes me feel stoned, especially when drinking a lot of caffeine products (coffee, soda, etc.). About 1 month ago I started to see a pain management specialist, he kept me on the lyrica 100mg. and also added savella, he has also subjected me to injection treatments, in which they start with injecting lanicaine anesthesia into the upper back and lower neck muscles first.
Two treatments of this one week apart to relax tense muscles, then he works his way down the back for 2 weeks, then onto other trouble parts of the body. the savella made me feel nauseous with every increase of dosage, but only that only lasts for about three days. I was out of work, because of the pain, for about 1 1/2 months since these treatments I have gone back to work, and have gotten better night sleep. When I have my Fibro flare ups they last anywhere from 5 days to 6 weeks, with pain so severe its off the charts 10+. with said treatments my pain is about a level 4, the doctor said that is probably as good as gets, but I can at least function, do daily tasks and work most days. This treatment seems to work OK, but wish we could find away to totally subside the pain.
Hope if anyone tries this combo. it works OK for you to.
George
I have had a couple incidents of sleepwalking --one in which I was at work...problem was I was not asleep...sound strange I know but It was like when I have gone to sleep and woke up doing something....I am thinking it may be a reslut of the savella.......I had a similar experience with another med I used to take....also I have been haveing terible cramps in my thighs --calfs and even my side.......any feedback
