I am new to this group/site so hello everyone :) I have pcos and cystic acne..
Can anyone recommend some skin care that has helped them as I am looking at changing what I currently use :)
Hi there and welcome!! I also have PCOS and break out frequently. I've tried soo many products, but right now I usually just go with the most basic and natural cleanser and moisturizer I can find. I also find my diet really affects my skin-my skin's super sensitive, so when I'm breaking out, I usually try to eat a lot of greens and fruit-especially any kind of berry. It really helps and clears up way quicker. Hopefully some other folks here also have some cleanser ideas for you? Good luck and know that we're here for you!!
Thankyou for your comment :) I'm a vegetarian so I try and eat as many vegetables as I can. I'm going to the doctors also to see if any medication can help. I've had cystic acne on and off for years and I'm 29 years old, I'm just tired of it now!
I don't know where at you love but we have a place called lush, I'm sure you can buy their produces online. I've been using their products for about two years now and it helps so much with my Pcos ache!
I use proactiv and love it!
Thanks guys :) I used proactive when I was younger for a few years and it worked really well, but then my skin started getting bad again :/ I think I just used it for too long. I've just been put onto Manila honey as a skin care, I'll let you know how it works. Hopefully I'll be starting doxycycline soon as well
@Billie666 *manuka honey!!
I've been struggling with cystic acne for 15 years (I'm 30 now). Accutane when I was 18 cleared it up for a long while but they've recently come back. I'm tired of spending tons of money on cortisone injections but I'm hesitant to do accutane again.
I have been to numerous dermatologists and have tried EVERY type of cream and the only thing that helped was when I went on birth control. Orthotricyceline made me gain a little weight but completely cleared my skin. I am now on Junel and no longer gain weight from the pill and my skin is still clear! Ortho is a higher dose of estrogen so if you really want to clear your skin, I would start with that and then when you see results consider going on a lower dose.
I have heard dietary changes can really help PCOS & cystic acne. Try avoid dairy. You can start cutting out milk and soy first and then gradually wean off other stuff.
Also birth control definitely helps PCOS, but I am not crazy about it because when it's time to get off birth control, your hormones will go crazy and you will break out again.
