I am wondering are there any women married to asperger men on this site?
Me
My husband and I both have Asperger's syndrome.
I am NT and looking for advice on how to talk to my husband so that we can connect better
It's hard. You have a job ahead of you.... one of the things is learn as much about aspie as you can. You can't expect fish to climb trees afterall. You need to try to forgive as much of the ingrained behavior as possible, but try to get him to understand how you feel. Look for common vocabulary. Have him repeat what he understands. Etc. Beginner primer. ;)
@Appleblossom1 Thanks so much for responding, I am attempting to become more accepting of his ingrained behaviors. He is so different than any man I have met before. We are in couple’s therapy, not sure it is helping since he continues to say & do a lot of the things he always does
You will ultimately have to decide if it's something you can deal with for long term or not. My husband's companionship means more to me than counting the ways he can't communicate the same. My husband is responsive to my needs however, and one of his micromanaging lists is ways to keep me happy. Today he brought flowers. :D
