I hate PCOS, I have a mustache now and feel partly ashamed. Though the other part of me doesn't care because I wear a mask anyway. It's not like it will matter because it's not going to change at all.
I know and feel your frustration, @BlackLily... I've been battling hirsutism since I was 15 years old. It has brought me a lot of shame, worry and feeling ugly. The worst part for me was when a doctor told me that it was "cosmetic" if I wanted to get rid of it--like, I 'wanted' to be born w/facial hair like a man?!!! I tried that laser stuff , it kind of worked in that, it came back a bit less... but it came back... UGH!!!!
Shaving has left my skin super sensitive, as it's not normal for us women to shave our faces, and because of it, in the heat, I get really bad heat rashes under my chin. Very painful.
I hope you find a solution, it's hard, but there's gotta be something out there for us.
@D.O.J. Exactly, I understand. Thank you by the way for being hopeful.
Hi there! Keeping hormone levels under check and medical therapy helps. Hirsutism is controllable with medical therapy but not reversible. Also risk benefit ratio should be kept in mind. Endocrinologist might help with medical therapy. For me personally oral contraceptives worked but hair growth returns when you stop medication.
i know exactly how you feel, for me it's not just the moustache, but other areas as well have become more hairy, even bit of my belly. I now sometimes even feel self conscious when i'm with my husband, and i hate it.
@Pixie147, I completely understand. I’m still embarrassed about it with my boyfriend.
