There's a few things I can think of. While I can't really help your phobia, I can give you some tips, that may or may not help, but did help me and my family and some friends. Firstly, if you just moved in, it's your landlord's responsibility to nip this in the bud. Secondly, If you live in a multiplex unit, then other units could also need treatment for obvious reasons. The pests travel back and forth. So it that's what's going on the landlord will have to be complained to that they need to treat ALL the units. Thirdly, you could also do what I did when I moved to unfamiliar territory. I called an exterminator and told them I was too broke to hire them but needed some advice and there, in AZ, I found out the city of Phoenix would clean the sewers and these effers would come up our drain. So they told me to put bleach in all my drains in the house and then cover the drains when not in use, which thankfully worked with the giant cockroaches there. My brother had a roach infestation here in CA near the beach. They came over to his house when some buildings in his neighborhood were ripped down. He and his wife tried EVERYTHING to get rid of those beasts and NOTHING worked. Until they tried Boric Acid. It's very cheap, if you haven't tried it yet. You can sprinkle it all over your carpeting, let it set and then vacuum it up later and also keep it sprinkled in all your cupboards under some shelf sheets or maybe some wax paper to keep it away from your food. Retreat again later because of their dang eggs. If you have a house, spray outside with some outdoor pesticide and get some lawn spray as well. Where we live, those pests are seasonal but we're constantly spraying at least once a month and find them dead outside constantly. A large jug of pesticide is really only about $7 at walmart, lawn spray, maybe about $10 - $20. Also, I dunno if this is true or whether it would discolor your carpeting, this pastor once told me he used to be an exterminator and what he used to do with his company is just take some Ajax or comet scouring cleanser and sprinkle it all over the carpeting and later vacuum it (maybe the bleach, I guess?) Be careful about the bleach though. I once got a respiratory infection from treating my house with it.
You misunderstand what I said, I don't need a way to get the roaches gone there is no way, I live half a mile from a river in Florida, I live in a house that's 20 years old. I can't use pesticides I've already tried everything else, I need to know how the hell to make this nonsensical paranoid life consuming fear go away
@MoonChildRaine I have lived in several places in CA and FL years ago that had problems and this is what helped. I sealed up every plumbing connection, used insulation inserts in the outlets and switches, sealed with tape and clear silicone caulking ALL possible places. Even around light fixtures. I know I missed something. Then I put boric acid ( you can get in yellow plastic bottles in dollar stores) around the perimeter of every floor wall. I swept it under the moldings. I also kept the counters, cabinets, and floors clear of all food, crumbs, etc., wiped off the water in the sinks at night and left some lights on in the house. I know this all sounds crazy but it helped. I figured if I didn’t feed them, they’d go somewhere else. I now always keep peppermint soaked cotton balls and homemade soaps under the sinks. The smells might keep bugs away. I hope this can help a bit. I also have fears of bugs and germs.
Nevermind you dont understand what I'm talking about your on this site for normal ****.
@MoonChildRaine, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. No I’m not on this site for normal ****. Actually I have PTSD and I am paranoid about bugs too because I was traumatised by a similar thing. But I didn’t mean to upset you or make you feel worse and am sorry if I did. I truly apologize.
