I have always had low energy, but it's gotten worse and worse over the years to where I am basically bedridden except for dragging myself to work and necessary errands. (Done only when I absolutely HAVE to do them and just can't put them off anymore.)
I had my thyroid tested by my doctor about a year and a half ago and he said it was in the normal range. Recently, I was reading how the basic test misses a lot and the "normal range" is very subjective. So, now I'm looking at taking more comprehensive testing, which I will have to pay for out of my own pocket. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on if it is really worth it?
Also, I was surprised to read about seemingly unusual things that I experience that no one really gets when I try to explain them, such as feeling like I have one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas, so I'm exhausted from being keyed up all the time. I cannot relax. Period. I try, but it doesn't happen. I have worsening tremors because my entire body feels like it's on high alert and tense and contracted constantly. It seems to be centered in my solar plexus. It feels like my nervous system is just wearing out from the constant contraction.
I've always felt like this, but the consequences are getting worse as I get older. I'm told exercise gives you energy, but it drives me under even more. I thought I was nuts.
I'm on an antidepressant as well and wonder, if it is needed, if thyroid treatment could be the actual treatment I should be on instead of antidepressants? Can being treated for thyroid problems actually fix depression as a side effect? I guess that's enough initial questions for now. Thank you.
