I might have narcolepsy...they did a sleep study, and I got three different answers. One technician said that I might have narcolepsy, they would need to have more studies....the next technician said the doctor noted frequent leg movement that is actually a symptom of narcolepsy....and then my family doctor said that according to the "results" I slept normal. GRRR. I mean, I wake up exhausted almost every day, and struggle to stay awake all day long. I want to do more tests....but at the same time I have had SO many tests over the past several years, and all results came back "normal". maybe I just am simply sleep deprived? Maybe it's all in my head??? Maybe I need a new doctor. I don't know. It's so tough to know what to do. I do okay when I can wake up at roughly the same time in the morning....but that's not always possible with work. I'm thinking about changing jobs so I can work at more healthy hours.....
So many hours a night do you sleep? If you have a day off and can sleep longer, do you ever wake up refreshed?
@CKarma Well, on the days that I have to wake up for work pretty early, I get about 6 to 7 hours of sleep. There is the occasional night that I get less, but that doesn’t happen too often. Then, on the nights that I don’t, I find that I sleep about ten hours. I wake up extremely groggy, sometimes I don’t even wake up to the alarm and my husband has to shake me awake. Even when I sleep ten hours, wake up sleepy and exhausted, a couple hours later I’m ready for bed again. I have a hard time focusing, etc…I do find that I manage better if I sleep for 20 mintutes or less when I get groggy during the day…and I ALWAYS sleep straight through the night; which is why I didn’t ever think before this that I even had a sleep problem. I’m just ALWAYS tired…all day and all night. Every now and then I actually feel refreshed (about once every 3 weeks maybe) and it usually lasts about five hours as opposed to the normal two hours of functionality.
