I shaved my head twice, 2 years ago bc it was getting very fragile and thin..... Afted that my hair was growing normally and looked great last year. I had a mini fro going on and I was able to braid ( boxers braid and box braids) my hair normally despite the different lengths my hair was growing in ( A little shorter in the middle ). Recently, my hair has fallen out around one particular spot, which also happens to be a spot I have a disciod scar at. I'm so upset by this and am freaking out because of this. My hair has never fallen out like this before. I did make an appointment at my dermatologist, but it isn't until next month.
What can I do to prevent my hair from falling out more or help it grow back in the mean time?

@11razors I'm not sure what can be done for thinning hair. It may be due to some medicine your taking or it could be a medical condition, both of which could be rectified. Check out this web page;

I hope this is helpful. I hope things go well at your dermatologist appointment.

Amazon has a great shampoo and conditioner for people who are loosing their hair. (A good friend of mine has cancer and we found these items on line (Amazon) and she was very happy with the results.)

Hi 11razors. I experienced the same massive hair loss when I first started on my medication regime. My nephrologist said it was probably due to Prednizone and other meds, although it was hard to pinpoint which ones in particular. I lost 3/4 of my hair and would constantly be worried every time I brushed my hair or washed my hair. My advice, is to be patient with it and take some precautions. What I did is use Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner. The best price is at Costco. Also I switched to a wide tooth comb in order to be more delicate with my hair. Losing so much hair very much concerned me at the time, but I must re-assure you that it WILL all grow back. Be patient with it, as hard as that might be. It has taken 2 years and my hair is back to normal. I hope this helps you.
