I was on percs for 20 years, til my doctor got shut down for operating a pill mill. I suffer spinal issues (have been told I have the spine of a 90 yo!). Anyway, I had no idea I was so addicted to these pills. This all happened one year ago and I haven't been the same since. It feels like I'v been walking around in a fog ever since. Like my brain is just not operating - like I have brain damage. The clinic where I go for bipolar also has a methadone clinic. Does anybody have any positive/negative feedback about such a program. Or would I just end up being addicted to THAT, as well? How long till the mental fog wears off. PS I take percs if/whenever I can (not too often).
After 20 years, your body just might not be able to recover fully, meaning it just may not be able to reset. Personally I would consider the methadone clinic, it may help with both the pain and getting your brain back on track.
I am a Laboratory Technologist and I know the clinics around here use Methadone to get people off of heroine. I am not sure it is addictive.
I can't read helpful posts left by kharma and someone else. As soon as I click to this page I have one second to try and read replies before they disappear. HELP!
Hi there. I hope you're doing ok. First of all, there's nothing to be afraid of or ashamed of. You may even have been the victim of a bad and certainly uncaring doctor.
So a number of issues. I would start with your primary doctor. If you don't have a good one, find one that clicks with you, and understands your issues. These days, suboxone is used more than methadone, but it definitely works. It will absolutely help you ween off, with almost no withdrawal issues, and much less fog.
You have to sort it all out. Maybe also a good support group. Put it all together and you will get clarity.....and soon be free. But, if you have real pain issues, that too must be addressed......so it's a holistic issue.
Let us know how you're doing. Hanging out here is very helpful too. :)
There are a few glitches or whatever in the functionality of this site.....I post things and get errors, and often have to log in multiple times...
Helpful hint: "copy" your post so you can "paste" it if it disappears, saves folks from frustration..and I got "ajax" error..ugh!!!!!!
yes, I've done the copy thing too! I've gotten that error too. I use IE
@Harpua - pain in the butt huh
Do not touch methadone. I will be 4 years clean march 1st. It gets better
