i went to really posh restaurant because my mom wanted to
and i was made to feel embarrassed and ashamed. haha. inside and even outside the restaurant.
i was upset for a while and thought nothing is right about me--everything is wrong - every single thing.
but then now sitting in front of my computer back at home, i realize that it was just not a place for me --where I would feel comfortable - and at ease and be just casual about things -
i'll never go posh ones from now on --

I can relate a bit. Even though I grew up in a rich(ish) family and fairly used to fancy sh*t, I don't look beautiful, posh, successful and put together like the rest of family, so every time we go out I feel extremely out of place. If you ever have to go through something similar again, you can just try to fake it 'til you make it. I really have an alterego just for these occasions.
Anyway, I hope you can relax now.

So sorry you had a bad experience when spending time with your mom should have be enjoyable for both of you. There is nothing wrong with you. You are fine the way you are. If I were to go to a posh restaurant, I would feel the same way you did. I grew up in the country and have never been into anything too fancy. We are always in jeans or now that it is hot we are in our shorts.
