I would like some advice from someone who has refractory Celiac.... Is anyone here also been diagnosed with refractory?
I never even heard of that.
@CKBlossom we already know Celiac is uncommon but refractory is even more rare… Doc wants to put me on steroids for an extended amount of time but I already experience many complications of Celiac in which the steroids will complicate further. I was wondering about anyone else that may have experience with this.
Celiac that does not respond to a gluten free diet.
Yes I still need a GF diet due to I get violently sick (vomiting and etc) within hours of consumption. Medication really doesn't help Celiac only a GF diet. But the steroids are to assist in shutting down my immune system to prevent my body from continuing to attack my intestines and supposedly help my villi heal. But I know of nothing good coming from extended use of steroids... I'm just afraid to take it. Specially being my Dr says it's still being researched although it's the most researched medication for refractory but the side effects don't seem to be worth the very very few benefits.
I can't afford to see just anyone I only go to the university hospital near me. Fortunately for them I am able to have any healthcare. I don't have insurance and not much money
Perhaps look up a body cleansing, I've heard that can help your system reset. Also look into healthy foods?
