i'm a 20 years old girl , i've been struggling with bald spots and thinning hair since high school , i had curly hair it was thick when i was 8 to 12 years old but then as i grew older i noticed that my bald spots are getting worse and worse , my mother she has thin hair and its way thinner than mine , so i assumed that my problem was genetic it had nothing to do with my hair care routine so none of the hairfall shampoos or creams would help ! so i started minoxidil 5% for months and then my hair would get much better but then i get tired of using it because its hard to maintain the routine & its quiet pricey i also take multivitamins that had biotin etc. my thinning hair is my biggest insecurity sometimes i look at girls in my college with thick long silky hair and feel so bad about my self that i feel like crying or shaving my head it really caused a lot of stress and i dont know what to do , i go on and off with minoxidil i hate it because whenever you stop or skip few weeks your hair starts to fall again ,,,i really need your help guys i don't want to feel alone in this .

Have you spoken to your doctor about this, a friend of mine has thinning hair and bald spots and she is on a series of injections that is helping her hair grow back!

i went to a doctor few years ago and she gave me a shampoo and a hair treatment that has menthol in it , but i guess i need to make another appointment for my hair issue because i have hormonal imbalance since high school my periods are irregular and i have excess body hair and excess oiliness on my scalp i don't know if that's the issue but yes thank you for reminding me i need to speak to a doctor

The irregular periods, excess body hair, oily scalp, and hair loss are all common symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which is a metabolic disorder of insulin resistance. If you have excess weight, losing 5 to 10% of your weight can normalize hormone and insulin levels which can regulate the cycle and possibly improve your symptoms. It might be a good idea to also have an endocrine workup to check for a thyroid or pituitary condition. Those can also cause hair loss. I am much older than you and have lost a lot of hair due to a hysterectomy (which was unnecessary at that). Hoping you can find something to resolve this! I know how devastating it is.

Also, you may want to see a dermatologist, because they specialize in certain types of hair loss.
