Anyone been through intensive outpatient group therapy? If so, can anyone give me some details, and if it was helpful, how it was helpful, how it wasn't helpful...stuff like that? I'm considering it because I have one month of summer left and I feel like I have wasted my first 2 months, so I REALLY need to do something productive.
And I'm supposed to be in summer school, but that has failed so far I've missed my first week of classes...so I'm getting discouraged and frustrated with my ed right now, and just feel the need to do something different. However I'm not sure what...
Any thoughts and advice from personal experience would be helpful and appreciated, thanks...
Therapy is always a good idea. :) I'm in outpatient treatment, but I don't have any experience with group therapy. I've done work in some support groups. And my therapist is going to include me in a group that's being formed right now. I think it's really important to learn to use our voices... It's just not healthy to 'speak' with starving bodies... You know? :)
Thinking of you!

I was in an outpatient program, and I had a very negative experience... It was not a good setting, and it was not well run. I am sure that there are good groups out there, you just have to be very careful about which one you attend, and you have to be careful to keep your boundaries. It is so easy to get caught up in the "comparisons" and "games" with other people who have eating disorders, so you just have to be careful and use your judgment.
Good luck!
