It's been two weeks since I was told I have hyperthyroidism

It's been two weeks since I was told I have hyperthyroidism. I refuse to take the medication prescribed and want to go the natural way. Taking lemon balm, motherwort, passion flower, vitamin d and c.
Anyone else trying natural remedies ?

The doctor is not there to make your life miserable. Rather then discarding the medicine i would do a combination of medication and natural remedies. How does that sound?

1 Heart

I know that would be the right thing but I can't bring myself to. I'm going to get blood work done in 4 weeks and then I will see if the natural way worked if not then it will be plan b I guess.

I hate taking medication for anything and the fact is if I start the antithyroid medication and beta blockers that's it for life. Dr said it is mild but strongly suggested I make medication

1 Heart

No weight loss just palpitations which is what caused me to go to the dr in the first place. I have been monitoring my heart rate and it seems to be a lot better

1 Heart

ohh palpitations...i still have those...in fact these past two weeks has been really hard. was taking medicine for it but its nt going away... how do u monitor ur heart beat?? i havnt slept at all since it startd two weeks ago..its awful

1 Heart

Via an App on my phone. And you can take it at your wrist if you know how.
Under 100beats per min is the goal. Mine was ranging between 103 and 126 and now I'm mostly in the 80s and 90s. I guess the natural remedies are working.

1 Heart

ok..try wrapping a wet cold towel on ur chest wen d palpitations start..u will b surprised how effective it can be!!

Hi, I'm new here but am also looking at natural alternatives and have heard a lot of people talking about the benefits of L-Carnitine and LDN, as well as lemonbalm and bugleweed. I'm going to do more research into these. do you have Graves?

1 Heart

@redberry I’m not sure but yesterday my left eye ststre feeling weird and looks a bit different. This all sucks. I read bugleweed may make tgungs worse with long term use.

It does sound like Graves if its affecting your eyes. did you have tests for Graves antibodies? I would advise you see an opthalmologist who specialises in Thyroid eye disease. your doctor should be able to recommend one. As I said i do need to research the supplements but thank you for the heads up on bugleweed.

@redberry what are you taking? I don’t know if it’s all in my mind re the eye but if feels s but different and looks it
My heart rate is s lot better though consistently under 100bpm
Even before all this nonsense my hear rate ranged from 80s to 100 as I’m not that fit although I’m small in size but after they told me I hyperthyroidism it was in the 120s at times

Get it checked just to put your mind at rest, if nothing else. I was first diagnosed with GD about 7/8 years ago and just trustingly took Carbimazole without doing any research but I did go into remission but then it returned and I was diagnosed as hyper again in Feb this year. I am on Carbimazole and Propanolol again as I have only recently found out that there are alternatives. I am going to get this in remission again and if it comes back I will then use a natural solution. I am also changing my diet and cutting out Gluten. As its a n auto immune disease its my immune system I have to fix rather than just my thyroid.

@redberry yes I will definitely get it checked out. I’m also taking flaxseed oil, magnesium and calcium I was prescribed the same but never took the pills.
I will report back after my blood work is done and see dr in a few weeks.

Get them to check your vitamin levels as well if you're getting your bloods done. I'm taking vit D but also going to get these checked. Take care :)

@redberry will do!
Hope you go into remission very soon!! Take care too!!
