Just got test results back and was positive for type 2. Angry at my ex because he was so abusive anyway and then I KNOW he gave me this. So do I need to take medication everyday? My dr has not gone over this with me yet.
How you handle this is completely up to you...you have options.

The medicine is more to help with the pain and to help with transmitting the virus to a sexual partner. I only took it for the first outbreak I had. I have outbreaks every month but I don't take the medicine. Talk to your doctor about it though. They will be able to give you more information on it

Hi Live. I've been dealing with this since 2001. I only take meds if I have more than one sore (which is rare), or when I knew I was going to have sex with someone that I had told. Now that I'm in a committed relationship, with someone else that also has it, I no longer take it before sex.
I will tell you that it will get better, over time.
Telling people will get easier.
